Term 2

Room 21 - Super Squad Assembly

Date: Friday 28 June 2013

Room 21 performed two traditional Tongan items as part of their school assembly. The first item was a   Taualuga dance which is only performed by females. This dance is to show how gracefully women move and how beautiful women of the Pacific present themselves. The last item performed by the boys is a traditional war dance called the Kailau. Using sticks or spears the boys show how they are preparing for battle or to go hunting. It takes a lot of skill to manoeuvre the spears without dropping it. There is much pride and mana with holding these spears as it becomes apart of them and their family as they represent them in the battle field.

It was a very successful assembly by everyone and they should all be proud of themselves. Super squad was that good we even got the special Principals Award and Billy the Bass Award!!!

Well done team!! We all did a fantastic job.
